Validation Studies
HDR, Inc. conducted a VISSIM simulation for a 6-intersection arterial corridor that was initially optimized using standard traffic-optimization models. They conducted "before" studies on the optimized corridor and then deployed InSync in the VISSIM model.
The study revealed that for the entire network, including side streets, InSync reduced average delay per vehicle by 24%, stops per vehicle by 14%, and decreased travel time across the network by 5%. The results were based upon an average of 10 runs for each study condition.
A formal report will be published soon.
Missouri DOT retained the services of an independent research agency to conduct field studies for the 12 intersection, 2.5 mile long Missouri 291 corridor. Preliminary results indicate that InSync reduced stops by as much as 90%, travel time by 30%, emissions by 30% and fuel consumption by 20%.
